The Funch adventure: Week One

Funch is a Melbourne wholesome superfood business started by two Mums, with the aim to create something that is not only good for you, but tastes good and can be eaten by all. Whether it be in the lunchbox for kids, on-the-go snacks for busy parents or shared with friends around a cup of tea, Funch protein power balls and bars are for all those health nuts, gluten and dairy intolerant, vegans and everyone in between! The pre-prepared mixes are packed with all the essentials that you need for a hearty snack, as well as ensuring less work is spent making food, and more time is spent doing the things that you love.
I am super excited to announce that I will be partnering up with Funch for the next couple of weeks and showing you just how delicious their products are. Each week I will be making a flavour of their products, all of which you can buy online, as well as demonstrating how easily they fit onto all aspects of life!

Week One: The Roadtrip

In my first week of making Funch, I honestly could not decide which flavour to make first – they all seemed so tasty. I decided on going with the classic Cacao + Chia mixture, which also comes in a gluten free option!

It was as simple as combining basic ingredients in a bowl and then rolling them in desiccated coconut. The mixture smelt delicious; and with natural ingredients such as almond meal, raw organic cacao powder and pure raw pea protein powder, it was satisfying to know there was an incredible amount of nutrients in it as well!

A single packet makes approximately 15-20 delicious bite sized balls that have a whopping 5.0 grams of protein per serving.
After rolling them in coconut I realised how easy this would be for families and kids to make – it really is an awesome snack for everyone!

After firming nicely in the fridge, I was blown away by how appetising they were being made out of unprocessed, natural ingredients. The dates and coconut oil that were required to create the delicious, sticky texture combined perfectly with the chocolate and tasted just as good as something you’d find in a cafe!

In my fridge, things don’t last long – especially if they’re tasty! Here’s what my Mum said when she pinched one (our four) without my permission:
‘I liked them because they tasted so fresh and weren’t overly sweet. They’re just enough to enjoy as a treat but can also be a daily snack that doesn’t feel like you’re indulging’.

The rest of the Cacao + Chia Funch protein power balls came with me on a road trip along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. They were perfect for pit stops and and my partner who will eat anything as long as it tastes good gobbled them up as quickly as me, unknowing of how good they were for him too!

Next week I am planning to try out the Green Tea + Chia protein power ball mixture which is super dense in nutrients, antioxidants and as always, doesn’t have an ounce of refined sugar.
